week 2 22nd sept

September 22Nd- week two and we were in at nine for a PPD1 briefing. this involved testing to see which learning styles were best for us, and as predicted I'm mainly a physical, aural and social worker. i completely agree that I'm a physical learner i love to touch things ill be working with to get a better understanding of what they are and what they can do. i cannot see how the aural learning style will help me but my portfolio has a massive section which i will have to look through. the social aspect of learning is not something i particularly enjoy to help me learn, i don't mind helping other people but i still believe that i like to make lists and organise my thoughts into a logical process to learn. on Tuesday we had the CAD induction, which was basically setting up this blog and working out how to use the computers at college and creating a user name. computers are not my strong point, and mac's are just impossible to work, so I'll have to make sure i make more of an effort to use a computer. Wednesday, another necessary chat about the library, it was interesting to find out that the college subscribed to Italian vogue and other obscure magazines i had not heard of before. the library chat was followed by the freshers fair and as expected we were given lots of posters, free drinks labels and other student items. my industrial machinery induction was not until Friday so i had Thursday off to catch up on some much needed sleep and to attend the freshers party. which was interesting, £3 to get in and a free drink on entry, i think it was the venue that put everyone off. i had been in before but it was by no means my favourite place, but never mind hopefully by the time we have another party i will have met some more people and persuaded them to come. my industrial machinery induction was fun, sewing pieces of paper and having a small description about what each of the massive machines did was interesting, my only difficulty was understanding Hugo but I'm sure I'll get used to him. the machinery induction was finished by 3 with a small warning off Ian that the course would really begin on Monday, so it was back to halls to get my bag and catch the five past five train home.
